Sick baby actually has RSV
Well, last Tuesday we took the Zachary to the doctor with a "viral cold." He was not getting any better, and his fever was up to 103.3 Thursday night. So were back at the doctor on Friday. Zachary had developed an ear infection and tested positive for RSV. RSV is a respiratory virus that can be very severe. Zachary was put back on cough medicine and Albuterol (for his breathing) as well as an antibiotic for the ear infection. The RSV is highly contagious and can last for up to 3 weeks, so we knew we were out of daycare for a while. Mammaw Ledford helped me with Zachary last week while I had to work some. He was very sick on Friday and Saturday and really did nothing but sleep and sit in my lap. His breathing got very labored Saturday night, so we were back on the phone with the nurse. We went back to the doctor Sunday morning (we are so thankful for our pediatrician practice's weekend hours). They checked his breathing, and it tested normal. The doctor thought we were pretty close to being over the worst of this. The fever broke on Sunday, and Zachary really started to feel better. The wheezing was improving, and so was the cough. I was actually thinking he might go back to daycare by the end of this week. However, today he had a rough day. He cried for 2 hours this morning, which is very unlike him. He hardly ate or drank today and basically slept in Mammaw Ledford's lap all day. Fortunately, he ate a good dinner tonight and took all of his medicine. He is sleeping now and will hopefully have a good night. I am staying home with Zachary tomorrow, and I hope he will be feeling better. Maybe with another weekend of rest he will be able to start back to daycare next week. Please pray for Zachary's recovery!
